Additional Non-Inventory Equipment & Crew
If we require equipment which is not in the studio inventory already; this would entail hiring it from a 3rd party rental company, and will be subject to their own pricing. To manage the whole process of booking, collecting and dropping the equipment back off to the rental company will incur a £50 fee. Any additional crew members such as videographers, sound recordists or lighting operators will also incur their own costs.
Any requirements for additional non-inventory equipment or crew will be communicated as early as possible, prior to issuing any invoices
Let's Do The Math!
So you're interested in hiring me to shoot a video but feel slightly overwhelmed after looking at the pricing list - let's make up a hypothetical situation and then you'll see that things aren't as complicated as you think!
Let's Say you're in Reading and want to book me for a 3 hour video shoot for a client testimonial, plus have the video edited. My studio is in Brentford, West London; so the calculation will be as follows:
3 hour video shoot = £180
4 hour video edit (estimate based on brief) = £160
Travelling distance is 72 miles / 2 hours in total
72 miles x £0.45 = £32.40 + 2 hour travel = £50 + £10 parking = £92.40
In addition to the camera and lenses included in the hourly rate, other equipment will most likely be required. So for example, we may need a Rode Wireless PRO for audio (£20), a SIRUI AM-25S Video Tripod to hold the camera (£10), and for lighting we may need an Amaran 60x S LED Light (£15) with an Aputure Light Box 6090 (£15) which is held up by a NEEWER 220cm/280cm Light Stand (£10). The additional equipment would then come to a total of £70.
So the total price to have this video shot and edited would come to £502.40
In Conclusion...
If you're understandably not "into video", the names and uses of the equipment will probably not be of interest to you. However, by breaking down everything like this here, you will know why a video may cost the way it does ahead of time, and everything will be itemized and clarified in the invoice as well.
